Regarding dahlias border friend

I have a TIP for you today...

this is an inexpensive way to "create a layer" without adding more paper...

Dahlia draw border 1

Use the FINE POINT of your Stampin' Write marker from Stampin' Up!

and a straight edge to draw a border around your piece of cardstock...

Dahlia draw border supplies

Find a straight edge that has a BEVELED EDGE so that the ink doesn't get sucked under the edge and smudge on your cardstock (Patty's FAVE:  check office supply stores or college bookstores in the drafting dept for a drafting triangle with a beveled edge).

I have a great selection of these triangles since I was a structural and architectural drafter for 19 years of my life... this was so theraputic for me... took me back to those days of drawing!

Regarding dahlias border friend 2

I stamped the REGARDING DAHLIAS image in Real Red, and layered it on Bermuda Bay cardstock and onto a piece of designer paper from the Quatrefancy package, then on a 4x4 Bermuda Bay card... what a neat contrasting color combo!!

Use BRIGHTS CANDY DOTS to dress up your finished card!

I have to agree... I just love the card you made with the dahlia stamp set. That is on my next order list. The color combo was great. Thanks for sharing.

Debbie Flattum

This is a beautiful card, Patty. Thanks for the straight edge tip, too. I did not know about the beveled edge, but do know about the ink getting sucked under and smearing!! Off to find a beveled edge.

Jennifer Eny

No wonder you are so talented. Love the idea and beautiful card.

Thanks for the great tip, Patty. Your card is lovely, and the use of the fine line to frame the image makes a very nice finish to the layer. Your explanation and photos make everything very clear.

Eric Bennett

How many of you knew that I hired Patty back in 1984? Our Structural Engineering company needed a new drafter, and she applied. I couldn't pass up that cutie, and, well... a few late nights working together, and we were married in '86. I'd like to take credit for some of her drafting abilities, but she has lineage in her family with her dad being a former architect.

love this!

Great...now I'm going to buy the dahlia stamp. My husband's going to think I've lost my mind because I told him I thought I had enough flower stamps now...silly me!

Michelle Gray

Great tip. Thanks for the reminder of the technique. I used it on many projects as a student of interior design decades ago. Like you, I still have my triangle and other drawing tools. Never thought to use the tech for my paper crafting. You go girl!!!

Norma W.

Lovely card, Patty, and thanks for the tip. Also loved Eric's comment:)
