My New Stamp-n-Storage Ink Pad Holders!

I'm so excited to share my newly organized Stampin' UP! ink pad storage system with you, featuring the Stamp-n-Storage ink pad holders!

Stamp-n-Storage ink pad holders for my Stampin' Up! Ink Pads, Patty Bennett's stampin loft

For about 15 years I've used a similar, custom built, ink pad holder but it was a little bulkier and I needed 2 of them stacked to store all my ink pads.  I'm so happy that now I can have all my pads just right out in front of me the way I like them!

Watch my video below for info on the great ink pad holders available at Stamp-n-Storage.

If you are unable to view the video, click here to see it on my YouTube Channel.

Ink pad storage make over featuring Stamp-n-Storage ink pad holders for my Stampin' Up! Ink Pads, Patty Bennett's stampin loft

I love how streamlined these holders are, and that all my Stampin' UP! ink pads are at my fingertips!!   You can paint or stain these.. so far I've opted to keep all of my Stamp-n-Storage products natural.  Maybe someday I'll change that but I like the natural wood look for now.  Thank you so much Stamp-n-Storage for these fabulous ink pad organizers!!  It is true that you are more creative and more productive when you are organized!!

Stamp-n-Storage ink pad holders for my Stampin' Up! Ink Pads, Patty Bennett's stampin loft

As mentioned in the video above, I have two of the "24" holders and one of the "30" holders all lined up side by side so that I can have my 4 Stampin' UP! color families displayed horizontally in front of me.  This is what works for me.  Many people prefer the vertical orientation, but do what works for you and your space!  When you go to the Stamp-n-Storage website ink pad holder page (here), you'll find several options as shown below:

Stamp-n-Storage ink pad holder options. So many to select from to fit your crafting space!

When you click the Standard Ink Pad Holders option (Circled above) you'll find the dimensions below.. you can select from any of these sizes and shapes to store from 24 to 60 ink pads.  I've circled the 2 sizes that I have (shown in the video above).

Stamp-n-Storage ink pad holder options. So many to select from to fit your crafting space!

As you can see there are LOTS of options offered by Stamp-n-Storage for your ink pad storage, and this is what worked best for me.  Measure your space, count your ink pads, then find a solution that works well for you!

And because everyone should have fresh flowers at their crafting desk....

Patty's Stamp-n-Storage ink pad holders - no crafting space is complete without some fresh flowers from the garden!

Important and useful links:

Stampin' UP! also offers an ink pad storage solution called the Color Caddy (here).  As I mentioned in the video, we all have different preferences and space requirements, so select an option that works best for your space!

Organizing Tip for Stampin' Up! Accessories

Whether you have a large craft room, or just a tabletop or desk, or anything in between, I am guessing you love to have "the crafting essentials" right at your fingertips like I do!  I love to keep Stampin' Up! Accessories like pearls, rhinestones, candy dots, dimensionals, and more, right on my desk.

This is the storage solution that I have on my crafting desk for my most used Stampin' UP! Accessories!

Organizing tip for your craft room: how to store Stampin' Up! Accessories to have them at your fingertips on your crafting table! by Patty Bennett

The container is a Linus brand 3-section divided cabinet drawer organizer from The Container Store #10048913, (see photo below).  The dividers are Staples brand ultra durable poly file folders.  I used them for my thinlit die storage dividers (here) and also for 3 of these accessory containers and I still have tons left from the package.

Organizing Supplies from the Container Store and Staples for Patty's Stampin' UP! accessory organizer

I cut the dividers into 4" strips then into varying heights so that some divider tabs were shorter in front and others were taller in back (with the taller accessory packages).

Both in my Accessory organizer above and my thinlit die storage below, I used my Brother P-touch labeler.  I got it at Sam's Club. .. don't know how I ever lived without it!

See the product photos at the bottom of this post for the items I am keeping in my Accessory Organizer.  The nice thing about these poly/plastic file folder dividers is that the labels will just peel right off if something retires and I need to make a new label for new products!

Tip for organizing your Stampin' Up! accessories - keep them right at your fingertips on your crafting desk! by Patty Bennett. Poly File folders from Staples, cut into dividers.

These are the same poly file folders I used to made dividers for my Stamp-n-Storage thinlit die storage (see the full blog post HERE)

We all have memories, some of us have preserved them in some sort of album, some of us need to do that.. no matter what stage you are in, I hope you find this 2-day mini-series about organizing your photos and memorabilia and getting going with your own Project Life by Stampin' Up! albums helpful!

Order your fabulous Project Life Card Organizer at Stamp-n-Storage here!

I am so excited that this area is done and that I'm USING it and have completed 1 year of a Project Life album already!!

I'm working "in the past" and catching up with photos from the early 2000's.. I have about 10 -15  years of photos from our married life that need to be preserved, so I just finished up 2001 last week!  The memories are so fun to look back on when Jason was only 10 and in 5th grade!!

I've also got all those photos from the late 1800's to about 1980 from the video above, to be archived and preserved, too!

Several of you have asked me to share some sample pages from my albums.. so I am sharing a few today..

Patty's Project Life by Stampin' Up! pages with tips. Preserve your family photo memories with Project Life. #plxsu

Watch for the tips I am sharing on these pages.. it's fun to mix up your pocket pages and use a 12x12 pocket page for larger memorabilia, or crop your photos and mount them to a 4x6 Project Life card.

Patty's Project Life by Stampin' Up! pages with tips. Preserve your family photo memories with Project Life. #plxsu

I have also found that I take about 1/2 of my photos vertical and half horizontal, so, I need to mix up my pocket pages from the Variety Pack 1 (#135294 - here) in my layouts.

It's great to include admission tickets and postcards in your Project Life pages, too!

Craft Room Organization Video Tip

I am excited to share my organization journey with you for organizing Stampin' Up! Big Shot Thinlits, Framelits and Edgelits!

I have tried several different organization methods over the years and I am really happy with my current storage solution from Stamp-n-Storage!

Organize your Stampin' UP! Big Shot Framelits and Thinlits with boxes and magnet sheets by Stamp n Storage. Watch the video tutorial by Patty Bennett at www.PattyStamps.com

Here are the supplies I used to organize my framelits, thinlits and edgelits:

Organization Supplies:

Get Organized! Watch the video below, or HERE on YouTube

I love that I can easily remove and use the framelit, and then replace the pieces onto the magnet cards without any other packaging!

As you can see above and below, I cut the Staples Poly file folders down into smaller pieces and used them for my dividers!  I cut them to 7" wide to fit the boxes perfectly.  I used my P-Touch label maker to create categories.  You are welcome to copy my suggested categories, or do what works for you!  To see how easy it is to make file folder tabs with the Envelope Punch board, WATCH THIS VIDEO.

Craft Room Organization Shopping Tips

Container-store-carts-happiest-place-on-earth

One of the most delightful places on earth is

The Container Store!

My crafty friends and I LOVE to shop there.. it's an all day "field trip" for grown ups! :)

I am always on the hunt for the best way to organize everything in my craft room, and after several years of shopping at the Container Store, I have some shopping tips and suggestions for making your trip fun, exciting and successful!

On a recent trip I was doing a really horrible job at trying to take a selfie, and one of the workers graciously asked if she could take our photo for us.. I'm sure she was tired of watching me struggle!! :)

Container-store-group-june-organizing-trip

So, my BEST TIPS when shopping at the Container Store, IKEA or any other wonderful organizational supply store...

1. TAKE STUFF WITH YOU!  Take a variety of embellishments, papers, tools, etc.

2. TRY THE PRODUCTS OUT in lots of different containers! See what works for you.. what style are you drawn to? How will it fit on your table or on your shelf!?

Container-store-organizing-shopping-tips-craft-room-pattystamps

3.  LOOK AROUND / TAKE YOUR TIME: You might have to look around for a long time (yes, we've been known to spend 3 hours in there!) until you try it all out and find what you like best!

Here are a few of my Stampin' Up! supplies I take with me.. cardstock, embellishments, paper stacks, stamp set cases, and last time I also brought embossing folders and catalogs with me.  You never know what you are going to want to organize in the perfect container!

Container-store-embellishment-organizer-pattystamps-bring

4. THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX.. this lazy susan turntable was in the kitchen section.. I think it will be perfect on my craft table!

Container-store-organize-glue-snips-pattystamps-turntable

Doesn't this just make your heart go pitter-patter?

Container-store-organize-your-desk-pattystamps

Cindee first turned me on to this great idea.. she uses these little scoops from the kitchen section for embossing powder!!  Someone else suggested using it for glitter or sequins for shaker cards.. how fun!

Container-store-small-scoops-embossing-powder-pattystamps

One thing I like to do at my stamping desk is to have a stack of stamp sets that I need to use next... I found this box that fits the Stampin' Up! stamp set cases perfectly.. so this pretty box will be going on my desk!

Container-store-organize-stamp-sets-pattystamps

A bonus.. it also fits 6x6 embossing folders (and the smaller embossing folders) so I got a 2nd box for that purpose!

And, just because you can't have a successful girl's day out without eating...

we stopped at Buckhorn Grill first..

Container-store-pre-visit-lunch-buckhorn-grill-pattystamps

I'd say this was a sign of success! (it's NOT all mine!)

For more about how I've organized my craft room, SEE THIS POST and VIDEO.  Leave me a comment if you have found great organizing tools or containers you'd like to share with me!

Organizing Your Greeting Stamps

Recently I shared a video of my Stamping Loft.. a craft room tour of my little space.

Click here if you missed the craft room tour video.

One of the things that solicited a lot of comments was my 3 tins of loose stamps...

Loft-redo-favorite-stamps-storage-craft-room-pattystamps-tip

In the photo above, you can see the 3 tins I have with loose stamps.  This is probably my favorite craft room organizing tip!  The stamps are mostly greeting stamps from various sets, and I keep them next to my stamping desk so that I can grab them quickly, use them, clean them and put them right back in the tin.  I don't like to have to think about which set a thank you or birthday or get well greeting might be in, so I just like to keep them handy like this.  Lazy? hmmm.. I would rather think of it as efficient :)

WOOD?   CLEAR?   or  PHOTOPOLYMER?

You'll notice though that most of them are Wood Mount.  Stampin' UP! offers 3 different types of stamp options, Wood Mount, Clear Mount and Photopolymer.  You can see all 3 types on pg 4 of the Current Annual Catalog.  I get asked often, "Which type of stamps do you prefer?".  My answer is all of them, actually.... I really love the wood mount stamps for my greetings, BECAUSE of the way I like to store them (above), but I also like greeting sets in photopolymer so I can stamp them just where I need to.   And YES, I've been known to buy a set in wood mount and Photopolymer... not often.. but I have done it.

I like the Clear Mount for the more reasonable price, and smaller storage requirements, and then I REALLY love the photopolymer just because I can see where I'm stamping the image AND they stick to the clear blocks like nobody's business!!  I love that!!   So.. I buy stamps in all 3 options... mostly photopolymer, 2nd wood, and 3rd choice is clear.  That's just my preference.. no right or wrong about it.. it's a personal choice for everyone.

After I scoured 3 stores looking for the perfect variety of small tins to hold my stamps in, I happened upon this one in Target one day.... LOL.. you be the judge.. it might be a tad bit too big for my loose stamps :)

Big-tin-for-stamps-target-pattystamps

So let me hear from you ... what is your favorite?  Wood, Clear or Photopolymer and why?  Leave me a comment below (on my blog) and let me know!

You can view all of the stamps that Stampin' Up! has to offer

HERE in my online store.

{Edited to Add at 10:30am:  Connie asked in a comment below, how I keep track of where those stamps go... one good thing is that I'm blessed with a really good memory and I usually can remember where they go, and if not, I look at the GREETING INDEX on pg 245/246/247 of the current Annual catalog and I can usually find which set they go in.  I don't actually put them back into their set until the set retires and I sell or donate it.  Hope that helps?}

How I store my Stampin' Up! Framelits

Thank you for all the kind comments about my Stamp Loft / Craft Room Video Tour!

Click to view the video tour of my craft room

Several of you asked for more info about storing specific crafting items, so I will be doing a short series of extra blog posts with more info on how I store and organize specific items.  Today we are talking about organizing Stampin' UP! framelits for the Big Shot.

How-to-store-stampin-up-framelits-pattystamps

As you can see, I use the Stampin' Up! Clear Mount Stamp Set Cases (available in the catalog or HERE online).

Tips Proven to Work Well for me:

  • Slip in some designer paper to make them pretty (this is a GREAT way to use up your retired Designer Paper!), and I put a piece of magnet sheet inside to hold the framelits.
  • The magnet sheets I use are self stick and were sold by Stampin' Up! years ago (I am sure hoping we sell them again some day!!)... but you can also find them online or sometimes in your home improvement stores in the HVAC section... they are used to place over your heating/cooling vents when not in use.
  • One tip you'll also see above is that I like to buy 2 of each framelit set so that I can cut double the # of images/shapes at once.. it's such a time saver for me when prepping for an event or making multiple cards for Customer Thank You's or for swaps.
  • Lastly, use a label maker to label the spine so that you can easily find the set you are looking for.

I mentioned this in a previous blog post .. but I am DETERMINED to USE my Washi Tape more on my projects!!  I think the 2 newest Washi Tape assortments in the 2015 Stampin' Up! Occasions Catalog are by far my favorite Stampin' UP! Washi Tape assortments.  Have you seen them on pg 5 and 39?  or

view the Stacked with Love assortment here and the Sweet Dreams assortment here

I just love this beautiful Lotus Blossom stamp set.. did you know it's a FREE selection during Sale a Bration?  OF COURSE you knew.. it's the "best seller" among my customers!  I stamped it above in Calypso Coral and Crisp Cantaloupe ink.. SO pretty!!! The free Calypso Coral Sale a Bration ribbon and the Calypso Coral cardstock base just perfectly round out this striking color combo.

On my Lotus Blossom Card above, I used Washi Tape from the Stacked With Love package (the black stripes), and the Sweet Dreams package (Cantaloupe dots) and the Sweet Sadie package (Pistachio hearts).

Weekly-deals-sept-30

About a month ago I saw an idea online with a beautiful drawer full of cardstock ready to stamp and use in card making, so I bought 2 each of the 8-1/2" x 11" Cardstock Assortment packages from Stampin' Up! plus 2 extra packs of Whisper White, and I created my own

Paper Drawer of Happiness !!!!

Pattys-paper-drawer-happiness-stampin-up

Doesn't that just make you want to craft and create cards!?

Pattys-paper-drawer-happiness-stampin-up-2

The drawer divider was from IKEA .. thank you to Christina's comment below.. here is the link to the drawer organizer at IKEA.  I have 2 in this drawer.

Below: on the right you can see my 1/2 sheets of all the colors and Whisper White, and then WHOHOOO... stacks of 2" wide pieces for my Scalloped Tag Topper punch and my Angled Tag Topper Punch!!  How lovely is THAT!?

Stampin-up-cardstock-assortments

If you'd like to do the same thing, below are the links to the paper packs I purchased.  If you don't relish the idea of cutting all that cardstock, consider taking it to FedEx Kinkos or Staples.. they can usually cut it for a very nominal fee.

I cut it in 1/2 first, then cut one of the stacks in 1/2 again for the 1/4 sheets.. hope that makes sense?  I did that with 2 packs of each assortment and 2 packs of Whisper White.

HOLD THE PRESSES!!!  GREAT NEWS!!

THESE PAPER PACK ASSORTMENTS WILL BE ON SALE FROM OCT. 1 to OCT. 6!!

be sure to visit my online store to get your 15% discount on the paper packs!!

IKEA Field Trip for Craft Room Storage Ideas

It was time for another Shopping Excursion / Field Trip with some of my Stampin' Up! buddies... this time we met at the IKEA location in Sacramento, CA.  Cindee, Lisa, Wendy and I had a great time looking for unique storage solutions or organizing ideas for our craft rooms!

Ikea-sacramento-trip

We have decided to bring you a Mini Blog Hop with our findings from the trip, so please be sure to visit their blogs today for more fun photos!

Ikea-craft-table-large

Above:  We all HUGELY fell in love with this ginormous crafty table top... oh my gosh... I would LOVE to have this in my craft room so I could have friends over to stamp with me... but.. alas, my room is only 8'x8' so I'm afraid this would never fit... ho hum.

Ikea-wall-storage-system
Above:  In my dream craft room I will have a huge wall of these fun, versatile wall organizers... what fun it would be to fill up all these little cubbies with baskets, boxes, paper sorters, etc. !

Ikea-raskog-cart-lisa

And seriously, who doesn't want like 4 of these Raskog Carts in their craft room!? What a great way to organize everything crafty from your Big Shot and dies to your ribbon and embellishments!!!  If I had space, I'd have 4 of the gray ones... ok.. maybe 2 blue and 2 gray... hmmmm.  Thanks LIsa, for demonstrating how easily these roll!

Ikea-wendy-hanging-wall-storage

All of these cute hanging containers were amazing... no wonder Wendy fell in love with them!!  Hang up a rod then just hang the containers!!

Ikea-closets-storage-cindee

I think In my dream Craft Room I would also have a wall of these wardrobe type closets... they have beautiful drawers and shelving in them and everything is adjustable and customizable ... Oh Gosh.. who am I kidding.. I'd love to redo my bedroom closet to these too!   Cindee was having fun checking them out!

Ikea-dvd-rack-storage-drawer-liner<<  I got a couple of these.. they go in a drawer and then you can put the DVD cases (a.k.a. clear mount Stampin' Up! stamp set boxes) in them!! What a great way to organize those!!

Ikea-white-tulip-flower-pitcher

<<< I know this isn't really an organization idea, but, if I could have flowers in cute pitchers like this at all times in my office and in my craft room, I would be ONE HAPPY CRAFTER!!  My garden is just starting to bloom.. I have almost a dozen roses in bloom right now, so very soon I'll be filling vases and pitchers to have in my office and in my craft room...

THAT makes me HAPPY!

What makes YOU Happy?

Do you have something special in your craft room that just makes you

SMILE?

Share it with me in a comment below.. I'd love to hear about it!

Celebration Basics Banner Kit on my new Bulletin Board

Shop Online Anytime and Earn FREE STAMPS

SALE A BRATION 2014 is HERE!  View the FREE PRODUCTS!

Free Goodie Bags with your order While they last with!

I've always wanted "a statement piece"... you've heard that expresssion, right?

They toss that phrase around on the DIY Home Decorating shows all the time...  like a really cool chair, or lamp, or big armoire... well, I've never had one.  So when the opportunity came to redo an area behind my computer desk in my home office, I thought, "I'll get some really cool lamps.. those will be my statement pieces!".  I wanted Coral or Blue or something REALLY Zippy!  well... guess I'm out of touch with what's cool because after going to SEVERAL stores, I didn't find ONE thing that could really be considered a statement piece and everything was neutral colors!!! .. geesh.

SO.. what did I end up with?  THE STORY OF MY LIFE.. a "safe" design.. "safe color", "safe design", nothing fancy.. but that's ok.. I will just have to jazz up the REST of my new little area!

Stampin' Up! Celebration Basics Banner Kit to the rescue!

Celebration-banner-kit-desk-bulletin-board

I used the Celebrations Basics Banner Kit and the Bermuda Bay and Calypso Coral Celebration Add-On kits.  You'll find all of these supplies on pg 30 of the Stampin' Up! Occasions catalog and ordering info at the bottom of this post.

The banner in the kit says "CELEBRATE" but I just used part of the supplies and spelled CREATE.

Celebration-banner-kit-bulletin-board

Patty-desk-lamp<< So this is the lamp I ended up getting... not exactly the "statement piece" I would have liked.. but, they are pretty (I got a pair)... I got the bases at Lowes (thanks to Lisa for helping me pick them out) and I found these shades at Target!  All 4 pieces were under $150 (for the 2 lamps) including the light bulbs :)

The shades have really pretty very dark brown stitching on the linen shade.. I really like them.

The bases are very dark brown - almost black. Dark enough that if I want to do black accents on my desk it will look fine.

DIY-charging-station-letter-try

What do you think about my DIY charging station? I repurposed (or is that Upcycled?) a letter tray, and covered a piece of cardboard with some left over fabric and batting, attached binder clips to the back of the tray and it holds the charging cords for my phone, my tablet and my camera battery charger! yay!

Now for a quick tutorial on making the flowers for the CREATE Banner:

Celebration-banner-flower-how-to

I used the printed papers from the Calypso Coral and Bermuda Bay Celebration Add-On kits and die cut them with flowers from the Secret Garden framelit package, sponged them with Calypso Coral ink, stamped them with the Dahlia stamp, cupped them in my hand, then added them to the banner!

Celebration-banner-kit-flowers-1

I used Snail adhesive and Stampin' Dimensionals for everything except hot glue on the flowers.

Celebration-banner-kit-flowers-2

So what's YOUR statement piece?

And I'm just warning you .. if you say it's a Red Chair.. I just might come move in with you! :)
