More with Carousel Notes & Classy Brass

My "Pick a Petal" Classy Brass template (pg 187) arrived yesterday so I HAD to play with it today!  The outside of it coordinates with the Carousel notes!  Hmm.. wonder what else Stampin' Up! has been keeping from us!  LOL

Here are the tools I used:

Paper Piercing tool and mat, brass template, Carousel Notes and 1/8" handheld punch.

TIP: I found that to speed things up, you can pierce and/or punch through TWO Carousel notes at once!  yahoo!  I used some Scotch Magic tape (clear tape) to hold the template and 2 notes together while punching/piercing.  And yes, the 1/8" handheld punch does go through the holes in the template.. you don't have to mark them and then punch.

I added some holes to the scallops on my Carousel Note Card Purse.. tooooo cute!

My Carousel Note Purse needed Photos!

I was working on a project using photos of my mom from her childhood to the day she got married (photos of THAT project to come in a day or 2), so I decided to use up the extra photos and add them to my Carousel Note Card Purse project (see this post for more details).

We lost my mom to cancer in 2006, and I really miss her, so I have been feeling the need to have some photos of her nearby me lately.  Although obviously I never knew her when she was so young, I know this will help!

I've had several questions about how I attached the ribbon handle and realized I didn't take a photo of the back of the project.. but I did it the same way that Jan Tink did: add Jumbo Eyelets in the back 1/2 of the carousel note,  and tuck the ribbon inside the eyelet holes. I added Sticky Strip to hold the ribbon ends down... just in case.  I "snailed" the new Chocolate Chip Poly Twill ribbon onto the Groovy Guava double stitched ribbon.... kinda cool, huh?

WOW - Carousel Notes Purse Project!!

Oh my word... we had the best time making these FABULOUS "purses" out of the new Carousel Note cards and envelopes (in the Occasions Mini catalog from Stampin' Up!).  HUGE THANKS TO Jan Tinklenberg for posting this most amazing idea on her blog this week!!  WOW!! 

Yesterday, Sharon and Ellen and I decided to tackle this project... seemed simple enough - well, I mean.. you are just using a pack of Carousel Notes and a pack of Afternoon Tea DSP, right??  LOL.. check this out... here is all the stuff we got out to make this project!!

OK, back to the pretty projects.... here are the 3 purses we made, including some close ups of some of the fun embellishments we came up with.

The "purse" is made with 2 of the big 6x6 Chocolate Chip envelopes that come wtih the Carousel Notes, plus a piece of Choc. Chip c/s measuring 6-3/16" sq. (scored in 1/2) in the center (the envelope flaps are both stick to this).  Then you add a Carousel note for the top flap, and put a Carousel note inside each envelope pocket, and embellish with Afternoon Tea DSP (and a ton of other stuff!)  LOL

Carousel Note cards - Oh My Gosh - Too Fun!

I think I'm just having TOO much fun with all my "new toys".. from the Occasions Mini catalog!!  My friend Aimee inspired me to get out my Carousel notes and start playing!! I'm so glad she did!  I am LOVING these notes!!

I've combined them with Sale-A-Bration Rub-ons and "Lucky Star" Accents and Elements Tin die cuts!  (oh, and stamps too!).  As noted in one of the photos, I used the chipboard circle piece (from the Ginormous Pieces pack) as a template for my dashed lines on a couple of the Carousel notes.

The large Chocolate Chip envelopes are just TOO fun!!  I hope you enjoy these.. let me know what you think!

The brown rub-ons look a little "off" in the photos.. but they look great in person! (above and below)

Hostess Gift - Summer Picnic paper

My workshop hostess this weekend will be getting this gift from me.. I am pretty sure she doesn't look at my blog (but why not??) - so I'm posting it now and we'll see if she sees it!

I used the Summer Picnic Paper and the Tart & Tangy set, both in the Occasions Mini Catalog - NEW from Stampin' Up! yahoo!  The notes are 3x3 on Real Red cardstock, and the mini size envelopes are on pg 167 in the regular catalog HERE.

Oh TOO cute! Colored Ribbon Slides!

I'm having TOO MUCH FUN !!! 

Last night I turned THIS:                     into THIS:

These are the new Ribbon Slides that come in the Styled Silver Hodgepodge kit in the Occasions mini catalog:

Sooooo.. how do you do it??  That's the fun part.. cuz it's SO STINKIN' EASY!! :) 

Mix some Crystal Effects with about 2 drops of reinker.. ANY COLOR!! and then "paint" it into the depressed area of the Ribbon Slide... I used a little plastic "stir stick" (like from a "drink".. don't know where I could have obtained that! LOL - probably a souvenir from the last SU! cruise!), or you can use a toothpick.. something small and disposable is great.

Warning.. when are these NOT so cute??  Answer: when one flips off your table UPSIDEDOWN on your new capri pants... WET RED CRYSTAL EFFECTS.. YIKES!!  Solution:  Grab your Staz On CLEANER and dab the bright red stain on your pants, then wash them immediately.. voila.. no more stain! :)  YEAH Staz On Cleaner!

So then check this out.. they look soooooooooooo cute on a project!! (Ruby Red Reinker was used on the project below)

Afternoon Tea

I LOVE the new Afternoon Tea DSP from Stampin' Up! 

The colors and patterns are GORGEOUS! :) 

(BELOW) This is a card we made with that paper at the Stampin' Up! Oakland Regional Seminar:

And then I made 2 alternate designs, both using the same Afternoon Tea DSP and the Live Your Dreams stamp set!  The brown part above and the white part below is an envelope, sealed shut, then cut an inch off one end, and insert your card that way.  Fun design!

Trifold Sweet Celebrations

I saw THIS IDEA on Fran's blog and just LOVED the fold... as you can see, I not only copied the fold, but also the stamp set and ribbon! Guess I wasn't very original, but I really loved her card! Thanks for the awesome idea, Fran!

I used the Sweet Celebrations set on pg 131 and combined it with a metal edge tag, scallop circle punch, and a chipboard heart.  I "smooshed" the heart into the Real Red Craft pad to color it, and attached it to the card with those HUGE glue dots.. the really big ones that nobody ever knows what to do with! 

The little blue flower in the center of the tag, and the red/white stripe on the right side are self stick die cuts from the Summer Days SS kit (my favorite thing in the ENTIRE catalog!)  :)

Die Cut Blooms

I am SO excited about the upcoming OCCASIONS MINI CATALOG from Stampin' Up!   I can't wait until Saturday (March 1st) to order TONS of packs of this CUTE CUTE CUTE Summer Picnic paper and more Die Cut Blooms!!! 

I made these 2 cards with the same design... a "matchbook" card with a flap at the right end and the front of the card tucks into the flap.  I secured the flap ON THE SCORE LINE with a strip of Sticky Strip - it holds the flap down.

another SU! Regional Swap

This was the first swap I worked on for the upcoming Regional Seminar.  It turned out to be pretty labor-intensive and has really aggravated my pinched nerve again, so I had to stop after about 25 of these and move on to the Summer Picnic cards (here). 

I started with a 4x4 square of Pomegranate cardstock, and put a smaller folded card on top of it, layered with Berry Bliss Designer paper from Stampin' Up!  It's embellished with Build-a-Brad, the new Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware, Pink Taffeta ribbon and stamp from "A True Friend" and Boho Backgrounds. 

This one was inspired by Cambria in this post.

What is keeping me busy this week?

I've been busy stamping swaps for our Oakland, CA Stampin' Up! Regional seminar this coming weekend! Here is a sneak peek at one of my swaps "in progress".  Enjoy!

Hostess Gift - Pockets & Pieces

My workshop hostess, Valerie, will be receiving this gift today!  Thanks to Erica for this totally adorable idea!!  I used the Stampin' Up! Pockets & Pieces kit to make this pouch.. and just as Erica mentioned, I don't think I made this quite right either.. but hey, it worked! :) 

I used the new Die Cut Blooms from the upcoming Occasions mini catalog to decorate the box, and then packaged an assortment of the blooms plus some white cards and envelopes inside the pouch so that my hostess can make some cards!

In the center of the flower, I added the orange die cut bloom circle and covered it with a left over acrylic bubble from the Build-a-Brad kit - it's not the whole brad.. just the bubble:

Occasions Mini Preview + SAB samples

Wow... what fun I had this morning!!  I was inspired by Beate's cute little box HERE and I just kind of got ON A ROLL making scallop punch embellishments, and using the new "A Perfect Day" Rub-ons from the Stampin' Up! Occasions mini catalog (demonstrators got to Pre-Order this month!) {yahoo}!!  Let's see.. I also used the new Styled Silver Hodgepodge Hardware - OH MY GOSH - the stuff in this hardware kit is toooooooooo cool!!  A couple cards feature the new Chocolate Chip Poly-Twill ribbon, and of course, one of my FAVE accessories... Build-A-Brad. 

My CHALLENGE to myself was to stamp a ton of embellishments featuring the Scallop Circle punch, and have them ready to plop on a card .. it was quite fun!

I received this AWESOME card from Shirley this week...  Shirley is one of the demonstrators in my downline, and she celebrated her 10 year anniversary with SU! this month!!!  I just LOVE this card.. I don't think this photo does it justice but it's gorgeous in person! 

She used the new Merci Sale-A-Bration set and the Bali Breeze background paper.  LOVE the Rhinestone brad in the flower center!
