Matchbook Style Cards

I truly hope you enjoyed the Matchbook card style video tutorial yesterday!  I had so much fun making a few extra cards with this design. It's so easy to make and just something a little different!!!   If you missed the video and instructions, click here.

Halloween Night & Jar of Haunts Halloween card - matchbook style goodie treat bag project by Patty Bennett featuring Stampin' Up! products

A few fun finds on this project:

  • did you see how cute the Glitter Silver ribbon looks on this project!?  A fun find for a sparkly addition to a Halloween project!!  3/8" glitter ribbon combo pack, pg 37 Holiday catalog #142015
  • check out the darling tassel!!  I tied it to the Halloween baker's twine.. how fun!! Baker's twine is on pg 51 in the holiday catalog, #142027, mini tassels are on pg 55, #142024
  • metallic foil silver doily... um.. why not?  Halloween can have doilies, right!? :)  Find them on pg 175 in the annual catalog, #138392

This Halloween Trick or Treat goodie bag holder, is the same Matchbook style and it holds a cello bag with treats inside!  Who wouldn't love to receive this little cutie!?  :)

Halloween Night & Jar of Haunts Halloween card - matchbook style goodie treat bag project by Patty Bennett featuring Stampin' Up! products

I used a 4-1/4x11" piece of Tangerine Tango cardstock for the base and scored it at 1-1/2", 6-1/2" and 7", per the VIDEO here.

Stamping:

The Jar is stamped with the Jar of Haunts stamp set (pg 55 holiday catalog, #142247) and the banner is stamped with the Spooky Fun stamp set (pg 52 Holiday catalog, #142236) and the Birthday Banners set (annual catalog, pg 15, #141506).

Paper Goods:

Tangerine Tango card (cut/scored per info above in this post), and Halloween Night DSP, cut to 1"x4" and 3"x4".

Christmas Matchbook project idea:

Presents & Pinecones matchbook style card project by Patty Bennett featuring Stampin' Up! products

Another idea for you ... use the same cutting and scoring dimensions and use a different color scheme, and different paper for a Christmas holiday gifty or card!  I used Emerald Envy cardstock and Presents & Pinecones paper (pg 18, #141986, part of the BUY 3 GET 1 FREE sale going on until 10/31/16!).

I used the layering ovals in Whisper White and Cherry Cobbler for the greeting.

Candy Cane Lane Washi Tape adds a fun accent, as well as the Cherry Cobbler and Emerald Envy 3/8" Silky Taffeta ribbon!

Again, you can see the dimensions and watch the video tutorial here

Home Sweet Home Haunted House

I know I said that THIS CARD might be the cutest Halloween card ever... but... now I'm thinking today's card might be!

I finally used my Home Sweet Home bundle from Stampin' Up! and instead of making a 3-d house, I just die cut the house front to add to my Halloween card!

Home Sweet Home Stampin' Up! Halloween Haunted House card featuring Halloween Night DSP and Halloween Scenes / Spooky fun bundle by Patty Bennett

The Home Sweet Home Bundle can be found on page 40 of the 2016 Holiday catalog and includes the stamp set and thinlit dies.  I used them both on this card, and I also used the fence, tree and pumpkins from the Spooky Fun / Halloween Scenes Bundle on page 52.  Don't forget the money-saving 10% discount when you purchase a bundle! :)

Home Sweet Home Stampin' Up! Halloween Haunted House card featuring Halloween Night DSP and Halloween Scenes / Spooky fun bundle and Wink of Stella glimmer pen accents by Patty Bennett

Did you notice the sparkly tree and window?  I used the Clear Wink of Stella pen on the tree and the gold Wink of Stella pen on the window!  Just adds a fun little touch!

I used the Halloween Night Designer paper as the background for the card, and also as the brick pattern for the front of the house.

Home Sweet Home Stampin' Up! Halloween Haunted House card featuring Halloween Night DSP and Halloween Scenes / Spooky fun bundle by Patty Bennett

I created lots of layers with the die cut fence and pumpkins.. I really wanted this card to be special!

Stampin' Up! colors used:

  • Pumpkin Pie
  • Cajun Craze
  • Cherry Cobbler
  • Basic Gray
  • Basic Black
  • Daffodil Delight

The cute Home Sweet Home bundle was intended to make 3-d houses.. but of course you can use your imagination and create whatever you want!!  Click below to see the Stampin' Up! video with instructions for creating the 3-D Home  Sweet Home houses.

Jar of Haunts Halloween 4x4 cards, part 2

Too much fun!  More stamped Halloween cards!!!

Today I am again featuring the Jar of Haunts stamp set and the Halloween Night specialty paper!

Candy Corn Halloween cards featuring Jar of Haunts stamp set from Stampin' UP!. Spider web paper from Halloween Night DSP pack. by Patty Bennett

Ok seriously... AFTER I colored a bunch of the candy corn cards, I looked at some candy corn candies in the bag.... I colored them wrong!!!!  The Yellow is on the BOTTOM!!!!!  Did you know that!?

Depending on how you stamp the candy corn image, you can fill up your jar, or just have it a little bit filled, or you can have them pouring out of the jar!!  :)  I did all the stamping with the Archival Black ink pad from Stampin' Up! so that I could color them without worry of them bleeding. I used Stampin' Write markers for the coloring.

Halloween cards featuring Jar of Haunts stamp set from Stampin' UP!. Spider web paper from Halloween Night DSP pack. by Patty Bennett

The jars are so easy to die cut with the Everyday Jars framelit dies.. so no fussy cutting needed!

Did you see the fun tassel and smoky slate ribbon on the "angry bird" jar above?  I thought it was fun to dress him up a little since he seemed so angry!!  LOL

My 4x4 pieces of spider web paper from the Halloween Night specialty paper series are mounted on fun bright Stampin' Up! cardstock for a little extra "pow!"

Mummy Halloween cards featuring Jar of Haunts stamp set from Stampin' UP!. Spider web paper from Halloween Night DSP pack. by Patty Bennett

The mummies are colored with an aquapainter and reinker.. it's fun to give him a little shading  by adding more or less ink!

Candy Corn Halloween cards featuring Jar of Haunts stamp set from Stampin' UP!. Spider web paper from Halloween Night DSP pack. by Patty Bennett

I love using the Enamel Shapes to give a little extra pop of color and shine to my projects.  Above I use the Brights dots and then colored one of them with a black Sharpie marker since they don't come in black.

If you missed any of the cards from Part 1 of this Jar of Haunts collection, CLICK HERE to see my previous blog post.

Jar of Haunts Halloween 4x4 cards, part 1

When I saw the Stampin' UP! Holiday catalog, I knew in an instant that one of my favorite sets would be the SUPER CUTE Jar of Haunts stamp set, and it coordinates with the Everyday Jars framelits, so no need to cut them out by hand!

Halloween cards featuring Jar of Haunts stamp set from Stampin' UP!. Spider web paper from Halloween Night DSP pack. by Patty Bennett

You'll find this adorable Jar of Haunts stamp set on page 55 of the 2016 Stampin' Up! Holiday catalog (item #142247).  You can see from this post I've used the floating eyeballs and the mummy images from this set.  I have another post for you in a couple days with more fun cards I created from this set!!

Floating Eyeballs... ok.. seriously.. this Stampin' Up! artwork is too cute.. it just makes me smile!  I stamped the floating eyeballs at an angle inside the jar so that it looks like it's pouring out, then stamped extra eyeballs to give the illusion of pouring eyeballs from one jar to another.. I mean.. TOO FUNNY, right!? :)

Halloween cards featuring Jar of Haunts stamp set from Stampin' UP!. Spider web paper from Halloween Night DSP pack. by Patty Bennett

The mummies (and actually all of these images) were stamped with the Stampin' Up! Archival Black ink pad.  I colored the mummies with an AquaPainter and the Crumb Cake and Smoky Slate ink refills.

Each of my fun Halloween cards are mounted to a 4x4 piece of Halloween Night specialty spiderweb paper, and then mounted onto a 4-1/4" square folded card.

For accents I used other pieces from the Halloween Night paper pack, and also In Color doilies.  The greetings are from the Jar of Haunts and Spooky Fun stamp sets.

Spilling eyeballs Halloween card featuring Jar of Haunts stamp set from Stampin' UP!. Spider web paper from Halloween Night DSP pack. by Patty Bennett

After stamping the jars and eyeballs with Archival Black ink, and letting it dry, I watercolored the liquid with an AquaPainter and Cucumber Crush ink.  The extra eyeballs were punched out with a 1/2" punch for ease.

Below is a close up view of the great Halloween Night specialty designer paper.  Click to order yours.

Supplies for Stampin UP! Spooky Fun 4x4 Halloween cards featuring Halloween Scenes die cut tree by Patty Bennett at www.pattystamps.com

Above: these are the supplies I cut and had at my desk to create the 24 cards I made.  I find it easiest to get all the supplies ready and on my desk.. then I can assemble the cards quicker.  If you are constantly getting up to go get something else or die cut 2 more things, etc., it will be a frustrating experience.. it's so much nicer to have it all ready to assemble when creating multiples.

Supplies for my 4x4 Halloween Cards:

  • Halloween Scenes tree die cut - Basic Gray cardstock and Halloween Scenes Edgelit dies (from the Halloween Night cardstock pack)
  • 4-1/4 x 8-1/2 Pumpkin Pie cardstock - scored in 1/2 (from the Halloween Night cardstock pack)
  • Halloween Night DSP "haunted house" strips cut to 4" wide
  • Halloween Night "bat" paper cut to 1-1/4" x 4"

Creative Halloween Treat Bag Ideas - Part 3

We just bought some Halloween Candy at Sam's Club... do you do this too?  Pick out the kind that you will eat "just in case" we don't have a lot of trick or treaters??  Well, we did.. LOL  :)

Today I have some more ideas for you to package up those fun Halloween candy treats for someone special, and today's post features the skinny 2" x 8" cello treat bags from Stampin' Up!.

Stampin UP! DIY Halloween Treat Bags featuring Jar of Haunts stamp set and Halloween Night paper. Tag Toppers: Cheerful Tag Framelits and Merry Tags Framelits. by Patty Bennett, www.PattyStamps.com

This is part 3 in a 3 part series.. I hope you've enjoyed the ideas for fancying up your Halloween treats!

After filling the bags with candy, I die cut a different topper for each one and tied it onto the bag.

You'll find the supplies for these bags here:

  •  2" x 8" cello bags, pg 176 annual catalog #141703
  • Halloween Night paper, pg 51 Holiday catalog, #142022
  • Halloween Night baker's twine, pg 51 Holiday catalog, #142027
  • Halloween Night Washi tape, pg 51 Holiday catalog, #142026
  • Jar of Haunts stamp set, pg 55 Holiday catalog, #142247
  • Cheerful Tags Framlits, pg 39 Holiday catalog, #141838
  • Merry Tags framliets, pg 21 Holiday catalog, #141835

Stampin UP! DIY Halloween Treat Bags featuring Jar of Haunts stamp set and Halloween Night paper. Tag Toppers: Cheerful Tag Framelits and Merry Tags Framelits. by Patty Bennett, www.PattyStamps.com

For the tag on the bag on the left, I die cut a tag using the Merry Tags framelits and the Halloween Night designer paper.  I punched a 2" circle in Pumpkin Pie to put behind it, and a 1-1/4" circle for the Happy Halloween stamped sentiment.

Stampin UP! DIY Halloween Treat Bags featuring Jar of Haunts stamp set and Halloween Night paper. Tag Topper: Merry Tags Framelits. by Patty Bennett, www.PattyStamps.com

After creating the tag, I tied it to the bag with the Halloween Night baker's twine.  Simple, and cute, but with a little wow factor, don't you think?

Above and Below:  for the other tag in today's project, I die cut a piece of Halloween Night paper with the Cheerful Tags framliet and then decorated it with a stamped pumpkin and some Halloween Night washi tape.

The pumpkin is stamped in Archival Black ink onto Pumpkin Pie cardstock, and cut out with Paper Snips.  I love the pumpkin in the Jar of Haunts stamp set because you can stamp it with or without the face.. so you can either create fall pumpkins, or jack-o-lanterns!

I love this fun 2" x 8" size cello.. just lends itself to some fun treats and doesn't cost a fortune to fill the bag!

Cutest Halloween Card EVER!

Trick or Treat!!!

Today I'm excited to share the Cutest Stampin' Up! Halloween Card ever, and a great MUMMY tip!! :)

Halloween Trick or Treat card featuring Stampin' UP! Cookie Cutter Halloween mummy, dracula and skeleton. Halloween Scenes die cut background tree and fence create the perfect backdrop. by Patty Bennett at www.PattyStamps.com

When I stamped with my friend Cindee a couple weeks ago, I brought the "fixins" for this card and we both made it.. it's SOOOO cute and super easy with the Halloween Scenes Edgelit dies for the tree and fence, and the Cookie Cutter Halloween guys for the rest of the card!

Patty's Halloween Card Tips:

  • Little Dracula: be sure your black pad is well inked for this image.. I used my Archival Black ink pad and then colored in the vest and shirt with Stampin' Write markers
  • Mummy:  see my tip below for adding subtle coloring/shading to the mummy using the "wash" stamp from the Perpetual Birthday set
  • Fence:  the fence die cut is not quite long enough to go across a 5-1/4" card, so I matched it up in the big shot and cut it twice
  • Moon:  sponge some Calypso Coral, or Pumpkin Pie ink onto Daffodil Delight yellow cardstock then punch with your circle punch for a perfect moon!
  • Punch them!  Never fear.. you don't need to fussy cut the cute little characters.. just use the Cookie Cutter Builder punch found on page 6 of the 2016 Stampin' UP! Holiday Catalog.

Shading Tip for Cookie Cutter Halloween mummy - stamp edges with a "wash" image stamp like this one from the Perpetual Birthday calendar set! by Patty Bennett at www.PattyStamps.com

Always stamp first, then turn your punch over and punch out your image for perfect placement!

Cookie Cutter Halloween mummy punch tip: always stamp your image first, then flip the punch over to punch out a perfectly aligned image.

Tip to make your fence longer for a wider card:

Halloween Scenes fence die cutting tip: Cut image once, then realign the die and cut again to extend the fence for a wider card.

Bundle & Save!  Enjoy a 10% savings when you purchase both the Halloween Scenes Edgelit die cut set and the Spooky Fun stamp set, both featured here on this card!  enter #144437 on your order online. See page 52 in the Holiday catalog for all the details!

Both of these fun Russell Stover candies are placed inside a 3"x6" Gusseted Cello bag (page 176 annual catalog) and then decorated with Halloween Night paper and some of the accessories listed above.

All Stampin' Up! products are available in my ONLINE STORE 24/7!  For easy shopping, click any of the product photos at the bottom of this blog post to go right to my store!

Stampin Up! Halloween Night Treat Bag - in 3x6 gusseted cello bags, decorated with mini tassel and Spooky Fun stamp set and Halloween Scenes edgelit dies by Patty Bennett, www.PattyStamps.com

I wrapped a strip of the Halloween Night paper around the cello bag after slipping the candy inside, then wrapped the Halloween Baker's twine around that.  The excess part of the bag is just folded over and secured in the back.

Before tying the bow, I added the mini tassel!  :)

The Pumpkin Pie Glimmer bats are die cut with the Halloween Scenes Edgelit dies (page 52 Holiday Catalog).

Excuse me.. but these tassels are WAY Too fun!!  Don't they just add the cutest touch to this package!?  It really shows that you care about someone when you take a moment to add a little extra somethin' to their Halloween Treat!

Stampin Up! Halloween Night Treat Bag - in 3x6 gusseted cello bags, decorated with mini tassel and Spooky Fun stamp set and Halloween Scenes edgelit dies by Patty Bennett, www.PattyStamps.com

The 3x6 cello bag below has a 2-7/8"x7" piece of Halloween Night paper slipped inside along with the candy, then the top 1" of the paper is folded forward and stapled.

Patty's Blast from the Past Pumpkin Card

You may be thinking... WHAT blast from the past?  This Stampin' Up! Jar of Haunts pumpkin is BRAND NEW!?  Well, yes, you are right... but I got out my Prismacolor Pencils from my 1979 college art class to color them... now THAT'S a Blast from the Past, don't you think!? (contrary to popular belief, the world was not black and white back then... we did have color :)

I found my Prismacolor pencil set recently and thought... hmmm I really want to use these on something.. so I looked for an outline image and whohoooo! This fun new pumpkin was perfect!  It's in the Jar of Haunts stamp set, on page 55 of the 2016 Stampin' Up! I stamped and colored 2 of the pumpkins on the Whisper White card front and left them as is, with the stamped stem/leaves on top, and the 3rd pumpkin was stamped on a separate piece of Whisper White cardstock, cut out, and I stamped the Jack o Lantern face and add it to the card with Stampin' Dimensionals, and then added the Halloween greeting.

The cute polkadot paper behind the pumpkin piece is from the Halloween Night Specialty designer series paper pack, found on page 51 of the new Holiday catalog.  #142022

Did you notice the pretty background?  It's the new Cable Knit embossing folder.. Oh my.. it's gorgeous!  Did you see it in my Holiday catalog product review video??  You can CLICK HERE to see that part of the video!   After that video I discovered that it's REALLY pretty to use the new sponge brayer on the embossed cardstock.. look a the beautiful dimension... actually, it's great with or without the brayered ink!

Stampin' Up! Cable Knit embossing folder - add dimension with the sponge brayer and ink! by Patty Bennett at pattystamps.com

You'll find the Cable Knit embossing folder on page 13 of the 2016 Holiday catalog.  #143537.

TIP:  when adhering an embossed piece of cardstock, I highly recommend the Multipurpose glue.

Find the new Sponge Brayer is in the annual catalog, page 180, #141714.

I felt really rusty trying to remember how to use and blend the colored pencils.. but if you want to know how I colored the pumpkins, here is my step by step tutorial:

How to color the Stampin' Up! Jar of Haunts pumpkin with Berol Prismacolor pencils by Patty Bennett. Purchase your supplies online at www.pattystamps.com

I really loved that wash background stamp 'behind' the pumpkins.. you'll find that stamp in the Perpetual Birthday Calendar stamp set. It's on page 134 in the annual catalog, #137167.  Before stamping it, I masked the pumpkins, and also stamped off the Cajun Craze ink so that it wouldn't be too dark.

Thoughtful Branches Halloween Treat Box

Wow, what a great response to the August release of the Thoughtful Branches bundle!! Thank you to everyone who has purchased it in my online Stampin' Up! store!

I know it's early but I really wanted to show you more versatility using the Thoughtful Branches bundle, so, let's chat about this cute little 2" square clear Halloween Treat Box!!!!

Thoughtful branches Tiny Clear Treat Box for Halloween from Stampin' Up! by Patty Bennett

After stamping a 2" x 10" strip of Whisper White cardstock with the trees from the Thoughtful Branches set using Memento black ink, I brayered the paper with some Smoky Slate ink and the Sponge brayer.  I added the stamped pumpkin from the Every Occasion stamp set found on page 110 of the 2016 Stampin' UP! catalog.  I thought it needed a spooky little moon, so I sponged Daffodil Delight ink on a scrap and punched out a 1" circle to add to the box.

The tag is a scrap of Whisper White with just the top die cut with the Layering Ovals dies (a scallop), and stamped with For You from the Thoughtful Branches set, and then more pumpkins added and a strip of smoky slate striped paper from the Neutrals Designer Paper Stack (pg 174, #138435).

I tied a piece of Cucumber Crush striped ribbon just around the lid and through the punched hole in the tag.  The recipient can get the treats out without untying it! :) yay!

Cutest Little Witches Hat Ever!

Halloween-curvy-keepsake-box-treat-witches-hat-stampin-up-pumpkin

You probably remember my recent trip to St. George, UT for the Stampin' Up! Founder's Circle trip... well, while I was there I was thrilled to be invited to stamp with Susan Adams and Janet Baker at Susan's home!  It was so much fun!  Here is a photo of us stamping up a storm!  It was super fun to spend the day with several of my demonstrator friends!!

2015-09-17 10.35.13

They had 4 super fabulous projects for us to make while we were there (click to see one of them) and today I'm sharing the 2nd project with you.. a darling pumpkin with a witches hat! The pumpkin is easily made with the Stampin' Up! Curvy Keepsake box die, and the hat is made up of only 3 different punches with Black Glimmer Paper!

Halloween-curvy-keepsake-pumpkin-witches-hat-supply-list-stampin-up

After punching and die cutting the pieces shown above, you'll need to stamp your Pumpkin Pie Curvy Keepsake box pieces with a fun background stamp.. I used the Chalk Lines image shown above.  Then stamp a face on your pumpkin - the one above is from the Sparkly Seasons set on pg 40 in the Holiday catalog.

Halloween-witches-hat-tree-punch-stampin-up

The had it so simple yet just BEYOND adorable!!  It uses the 2-1/2" circle punch, and the Tree punch (using the Black Glimmer Paper) and the Word Window punch punched in the center of the circle.  It's decorated with a Bow Builder punch.

Watch Janet's fabulous video tutorial here!

Halloween-curvy-keepsake-box-treat-witches-hat-stampin-up-pumpkin-2

Just cut a slit in the center of the Spider Web Doily and it will slip right over the handles of the Curvy Keepsake box.. umm.. how CLEVER is that!?  Thank you, Janet for an adorable project!

Are you going to make these for Halloween!?  They are SO CUTE and really pretty easy!
