Patty's Convention Swaps - part 1

I will be leaving for the annual Stampin' Up! convention this week!! I'm soooooooooo excited to see my friends and to learn new stamping ideas, tips, tricks and especially to swap with my fellow demonstrators!!

I'm posting my convention swaps here with the recipe, so even if I don't get to swap with you, you can still reproduce the card.

Getting Ready for Convention - and a look back!!

I"m so excited.. I'll be attending our annual Stampin' Up! Convention next week in Salt Lake City!!!  I've only missed one Convention since 1995 when I signed up, so this is definitely a tradition for me!!

I've been making some tags for my gals attending convention so they can easily spot their bag amongst the thousands of bags:

I made these with our new"Two Tags" Big Shot die (item 115954, pg 198) and put the Olive Green pattern from the Merry Moments DSP on the back.  I also added some of the wonderful new wide Olive striped ribbon to them.  That ribbon is luscious... it ties sooooooo nice and is sooooo soft!! :)

When I did my on line check in today for Convention, I got this message:

Love it... 'CONGRATULATIONS YOU HAVE WON AN AWARD!"  :)  Yippee!!

Being named to the Advisory Board on Awards Night at Convention 2008 was truly the highlight of my SU! career!

New Decor Elements - Convention Update part 4

Workshop Wow DVD - Simply Scrappin' Kit Presentation

If you are looking for my Simply Scrappin' Kit Presentation information, as mentioned on the Stampin' Up! Workshop Wow DVD, CLICK HERE, and HERE.

This DVD was available at Convention in Memento Mall and features 18 demonstrators presenting a "Workshop Wow" idea at a Regional Seminar over the past year or so. I believe it will be available to all demonstrators on a Supply Order Form, and I am going to suggest that it be made available to customers as well! 

I got a free copy since I'm on it.. too cool, huh? :)

More fun from Convention! - update Part 3

I'm home... boy did I sleep well last night!  Thank you for all your sweet emails and comments on my blog.. you are all special to me!  I'm still pinching myself, and when it all sinks in, I'm looking forward to an amazing year!

The die below was used in the photo above.  This is a "new world" to me to use this machine and the dies so we will be learning together, but boy am I excited about this new addition to Stampin' UP!

Free Stamps from Convention!

I'm headed home from Convention in a couple hours, but wanted to share a quick photo of the FREE STAMPS I'm coming home with from Convention!!

We each received 3 free sets when we checked in, for our Make and Takes at Convention, and then we all got one more free set yesterday in closing session (the Ronald McDonald House set), and I got 3 other free sets for:  selling over $30,000 last year, earning the Incentive Trip to Hawaii, and I think the 3rd set was for having more than 5 of my new recruits promote to Sr. Associate. 

I'll catch up with posting more Convention photos when I get home.

Updates from Convention - part 2

This has been a most memorable Convention!  :)  It has been a whirlwind and I can't believe today is the last day!  It's been sooooooooooo fun to meet so many of the friends I've made through blogging.... a HUGE THANK YOU to every one of you who has stopped me to say hi - it truly means a lot to me! 

Here are a few highights from Convention yesterday..

Winning door prizes is FUN! Our own Joy and Jen both won prizes...

and hmmmmmmmm what did Jen win??  Well.. she won a die for our very own brand new BIG SHOT DIE CUTTING MACHINE!!  That's right... Stampin' Up! owner, Shelli, announced that we have partnered with Sizzix to sell a die cut machine and our very own exclusive designs in dies!! We can make the most awesome projects.. OH MY GOSH>> you should have heard the audience go crazy over this announcment!!  YAHOOOOOO Stampin' Up!!

and the coolest thing is.. as a demonstrator, last night I already placed my pre-order for this machine and 8 of the new dies!!  And the CUTEST carrying case you've ever seen!  This will be available to customers soon!  Watch for info in your upcoming Mini Catalog!  I will have this on display at my Open House on Aug. 11 !!! :)

Advisory Board!! What an HONOR!

Oh my gosh.. I am truly overwhelmed and honored.. remember the FAB pink purse in my post yesterday??  It was given to anyone who earned a spot in the Founders Circle (top 100 in the company), but it's also given to those who are on the Advisory Board, and GUESS WHAT.. last night at our Stampin' UP! awards ceremony, I was given the highest honor of being named as part of the 2008-2009 Advisory Board!  Eight demonstrators are chosen each year, and when I heard my name called last night I couldn't believe it!!! 

Before that, I was called up for being 95th in performance in the entire company for the year.. and I thought that was the reason for the "pink bag".. but then, the last award category of the night was Advisory Board and they called me again!  Holy cow.. I feel like I'm dreaming!  Someone will probably send me pix of the Advisory Board on stage.. until then.. here are some pix from after the ceremony...

Several of my group and many of my friends stopped to say congrats.. lots of hugging last night!  Here are a few pix..

Convention Happenings - part 1

In the airport on Tuesday, we spotted demonstrator friends Lynne, Cindee, Mary and Elise - check out their super cute totes for their swap cards!  (made by Cindee)

CHECK THIS OUT... yesterday when we met up in the hotel lobby to go register for convention (AND GET THE NEW CATALOG.. WHOOOHOO!) Sharon and Ellen had made custom shirts.. Follow me to Patty Bennett.... toooooooooooo fun.. they are SO DEAR!!  Luv you, gals!

Joy and I looking at the NEW CATALOG!!!  Did I mention it's FABULOUS? Well, what else would it be?  :)

and THIS was a total shock.. when I checked in at the Awards booth, I was given a pink leather purse and told I was in the Founders Circle!!!!!!!!  Oh my gosh.. I don't know what award I earned, but I'll find out tonight at Awards Night!!  I'm kinda freaked out about it... I don't know what I did to earn it!? yikes!

The new catalog is super fantastic... lots of great new sets, and the new Designer Papers are FABULOUS!  Fun new ribbons... new punches, more Carousel Notes in the new In Colors.. fabulous samples.... oh ya.. I'm in trouble!

Packing, packing...

My Stampin' Up! Convention Swaps

I am getting SOOOOO excited about going to Convention!!  Friends, Stamping, Ideas, Swaps, Food, Fun... whohooo!  This will be my 12th Convention - can you believe I have to leave on my hubby's 50th birthday? YIKES!  We had a big 49er party last year (HERE), so he said it was ok to go to convention and not do a big thing for his 50th this year.

Anyway... here are the 3 swap cards I'm taking with me to Convention next week.. they all use Bella Rose Designer Paper and new colors: Kiwi Kiss, Pink Pirouette, Riding Hood Red, and of course good old Chocolate Chip!

Above: this card uses the Fresh Cut Notecard turned into a "pocket" - open at the top. That is one of the new Riding Hood Red buttons in the center of the big flower...  it has a funny glare on it from the flash.. sorry!

Sunflower Convention Swap card

CONVENTION is coming... time for more Convention swaps!!!!  I was totally inspired by Jill's adorable card HERE, and decided I needed to make a swap card using her super cute flower idea!  WAY too cute, Jill!!! 

So I made a pile of flowers... a "paper flower garden"...

(I actually ended up making 2x this many!!) :)

Then I made it into this card with Chocolate Chip, Kiwi Kiss and Apricot Appeal cardstock:

I used the "Punches Plus" brass template and the paper piercer to add an oval of holes around the punched out greeting.

The flowers are super easy to make.. punch out Apricot cardstock with the Scallop Circle punch and then snip between each petal with Stampin' Up! Paper Snips!

The flower centers are punched with the 1" circle punch out of the Bella Rose paper, and the Kiwi Kiss polka dot paper is also from the Bella Rose Stampin' Up! Designer Series Paper pack!

Convention Bag Tags

Stampin' Up! always urges us to bring name tags or ribbons or something to tie onto our Convention Bags, so I made some additional tags for my gals!

I thought the convention logo went pretty well with Bali Breeze paper, so I went with that theme.

If you are long distance, I'll have your additional tag with me in SLC... I've already mailed all the long-distance convention gift packets.
