One of the highlights of our quarterly Luv 2 Stamp Group meetings is making and swapping stamped cards with everyone!
We put one of each card on a board and during lunch we vote for our favorites.
This month I rewarded the winners with a Flower Fair Simply Scrappin' Kit and Irene, the #1 place winner, also received the matching 8x8 Designer Album that coordinates with this Simply Scrappin' kit!
You already know that I love this Spec Tacular stamp (see this post), and I was SO inspired by Cindee's card that I HAD to use this stamp to make some Thank You cards! :) Thanks, Cindee!
I had fun with different color combos on this stamp and the Sycamore Street Designer Paper - one of the 19 FREE ITEMS you can select with your $50 purchase during Sale a Bration!
Colors used above: Rich Razzleberry, Lucky Limeade, Calypso Coral, Island Indigo
1988: 25 years ago, in 1988, Stampin' Up! was born... Shelli and her sister LaVonne started Stampin' Up! in their living room, and WOW HOW IT HAS GROWN!!
1993: 20 years ago, I was introduced to Stampin' Up! in 1993 .. my sister-in-law, Tami, sent me a catalog and said, "I know you like stamping.. I went to this party and got you this catalog.. I think you will like their products". I called Sandy, who had placed her info on the back of the catalog, and I started ordering Stampin' Up! products.
1995: Two years later, in 1995, I signed up to be a demonstrator with Sandy, never even having been to a workshop! I vividly remember telling my husband that I might have to take $$ out of savings to ensure that I would fulfill the $100 a month quota (back then)... but, I sold $1,000+ my very first month and have never looked back!
I do remember holding multiple workshops every week "back then" and hauling load after load of every stamping product I owned into the hostesses home.. (oh my!).... no computer, no email, no website.. we called Stampin' Up! to place orders and Linnie was the only one who ever answered the phone.. she made sure she knew every one of us! All of our orders were either placed by calling Stampin' Up! or faxing in our orders. During busy ordering times like during Sale a Bration, I'd put all my paperwork in my fax machine with all the orders, press "send", and go to bed, hoping that sometime during the night it would actually go through!
One of my funniest memories was at the 1997 (I think) Convention in Vegas, there was an annoucement that Stampin' Up! was going to have a "website"... hmmmm I thought to myself.. exactly WHAT IS A WEBSITE and How is that different from email?????? I got up the nerve to go ask the man sitting by the computer in the Make & Take area .. I am sure I don't even remember WHAT he told me but I DID ASK HIM "what exactly is a website?". Oh ya... things have CHANGED!
Today: I am still as passionate today about sharing what I LOVE TO DO with others and HELPING others achieve what they need, as I have always been. I will be completing my 18th year with Stampin' Up! this June... and I look foward to serving you for another 18 years!
Stampin' Up! has been a HUGE blessing to our family.. making friends all over the country with other demonstrators and their families, learning the value of SERVICE to others, going on cruises to amazing places, and on trips all over the US, meeting and getting to know the corporate team and staff at Stampin' Up!, being able to help support my family in this time of economic hardship, and the list goes on.
Join me in celebrating ALL YEAR LONG as Stampin' Up! celebrates 25 years of making a difference! If you are viewing this in an email, pleasevisit my blog to VIEW THE VIDEO BELOW.

It's time for another Holiday Square Swap home decor project..
Valentine Square Swap!
My Luv 2 Stamp Group participates in a swap around each holiday time, and we each make a square using Stampin' Up! products.
I used an 8x10 white wood frame and a background of printed heart paper from the More Amore Designer Series Specialty package of paper (pg 10, or here online)
I decorated the corner of the frame with a piece of 1-1/4" Two Tone Pink Pirouette ribbon (pg 13 Spring catalog, #129294) and some lace trim from the Artisan Embellishment kit (pg 10, #129328).
The LOVE tickets are also from the Artisan Embellishment kit (noted above)
The cute heart clip is found on pg 28 in the Elements Cute Clips package (#129939)
You'll notice that almost 1/2 the squares feature the cute little HEART shape from the Hearts a Flutter stamp and framelit die cut - find them on pg 11 in the Spring Catalog, or HERE ONLINE
see above for info on the LOVE tickets and heart clip
The beautiful heart button is also in the Artisan Embellishment kit.
The heart die cut is from the More Amore DSP package too.
Hope you enjoyed the project!!
ABOVE: More Amore Designer Series Specialty package of paper (pg 10, or here online)
You can see all the patterns on pg 3 in the Spring mini catalog, or HERE ONLINE.
I added a row of pearls at the waist and a Flower brooch.
cuteness, right?
The difference between this set of dresses and my first frame, is that for these dresses i mounted them on the Dress Form that is a part of the Framelit set. I cut them out of Basic Gray cardstock.

Wow.. I was sooooo excited to see this idea shared on an email list last week.. Jackie Topa suggested using the Shaker Frame circles and these beautiful Vanilla ribbon flowers for a wreath!
above: close up.. aren't these flowers PRETTY!?
Here is the whole card I made:
TO MAKE THIS CARD:
I peeled the largest circle off of the Shaker Frames ring and placed it onto a die cut Whisper White Floral Frames die cut. I added 2 yellow leaves from the Sale a Bration "Happy Hello" simply sent kit, added a tied Cherry Cobbler Seam Binding Ribbon bow, and then mounted it all onto a folded white card embossed with the Lacy Brocade embossing folder.
I think you could pretty easily use any of the largest 3 circles from the Shaker frames for this project.
After dyeing them with Calypso Coral ink, I colored them with 3 different markers: Calypso Coral, Daffodil Delight, and Cherry Cobbler, then i spritzed them with the Vanilla Shimmer Smooch Spritz... they are so pretty in person!
I was trying to get the feeling of this rose from my garden... I need to add more yellow.. but it's close enough :)
Tip: before adding these flowers to your project, be sure to trim away the excess netting between the flowers so it doesn't show.
I wish the shimmer would show up in the photos.. .i tried.
Stampin' Up! Products you'll need for this project:
WELCOME to the January 2013 Control Freaks Blog Tour!!!
We are excited to bring you delightful
Stampin' UP! 2013
Sale a Bration ideas
in the tour this month!!
Sale a Bration starts on
TUESDAY, Jan. 22!
You have probably joined me after visiting Cindy's wonderful blog, and you can click on the "next blog" link at the bottom of the post to continue on the tour.
My first project was a card I made for Cindee's birthday. I love the bright springy colors.. reminds me of my bedroom when I was about 10 or 12 :)
This card features the super-cool FREE NOTECARDS and Envelopes you can earn FREE during Stampin' Up!'s Sale a Bration 2013 with your $50 purchase. The packet is called HAPPY HELLO (#130149) and you get 8 printed notecards, 8 envelopes, baker's twine, rhinestones and self adhesive die cut flowers. I have added a Calypso Coral flower from the Pop-Up Posies kit (pg 18 in the Spring Catalog, #131395). (side note: I added a 4-1/4"x 5-1/2" piece of Daffodil Delight cardstock to the back of the card and a piece of DSP from Parker's Patterns - the yellow chevrons).
Do you want to know how I made this tag?? Cindee taught me this.. fold your cardstock in 1/2 and then run it in your big shot with the tag framelit as shown below, then unfold your tag! Too cool! I found it helps to burnish the folded line with my Bone Folder.
Hearts a Flutter Tag Framelits, pg 11 Spring Catalog or HERE ONLINE.
Next Up... HELLO>>> are you there? How about a fun English Phone Booth.. cute way to stay in touch with a friend! This fun stamp comes from the FEELING SENTIMENTAL stamp set.. yours FREE during Sale a Bration! I colored directly on the rubber with my Real Red and Early Espresso Stampin' Write markers. I also used the FREE PETITE CURLY LABEL PUNCH (#129405) .. another GREAT free Sale a Bration item you can earn with your $50 purchase from Jan. 22 to March 22. I used my free little punch to punch out the HELLO greeting.. YET ANOTHER cute FREE item .. it's from the Sale a Bration set called PRETTY PETITES (#129639 / 129642)
I embossed the Pool Party background piece with the new Cloudy Day embossing folder, found on pg 28 of the Spring Catalog (#127022). It's mounted on a 4-1/4" square Real Red Card. I also spritzed a few dots onto the phone booth die cut with the Stampin' Up! Color Spritzter Tool (#107066) and my Early Espresso marker.
You can place your order by clicking any of the shop online buttons on my blog and typing in the ordering codes found in this blog post. Questions? email me. PattyStamps@comcast.net
Yesterday Stampin' Up! revised their policies and it is now ok to include MDS printed components with a project kit, as long as they are printed through the Stampin' Up! MDS printing service... so.... watch my blog next week for my offering of Winter/Spring set of MDS Printer Tray Inserts for your Stampin' Up! printer trays!!
THANK YOU Stampin' Up! for listening and for taking everything into consideration and for changing this policy!
And a HUGE Thank You to each of you who had emailed me with encouragement and support about this project!!
If you are not familiar with the printer trays, you can see my previous blog posts:
Have you used the new Creped Filter Paper from the Stampin' Up! Spring Catalog yet? (you'll find it on pg 6). It's easy to work with and although it seems really thin, it's fabulously durable (and super inexpensive!)!
Here is a card I created and embellished with the creped filter paper flower.
I love how the Thank You tag turned out...I stamped Whisper White Cardstock with Calypso Coral ink and the new oval stamp from Oh Hello (I stamped off onto scratch paper first), and then die cut it with the Labels Collection Framelit! Then sponged the edges to add some depth.
OK, now on to the
Creped Filter Paper Flower Tutorial!
You'll need the Creped Filter Paper, and a variety of Scalloped Circle punches (see below)
I used ONE of the 6"x12" sheets in the package to punch about 12 scallop circles.
IMPORTANT TO NOTE: When punching... i needed to put the creped filter paper on a sheet of computer paper (I actually just used the Stampin' Up! Grid sheet show in the photo, available here) and punch both layers at once... the filter paper was too thin to punch by itself.
Step 5, add brad through all layers and you are done!
If you'd like to make a BIGGER flower, use the Floral Frames Framelits and follow the instructions in this Stampin' Up! Video.
These are the beautiful Vintage ribbon flowers on pg 5 of the Stampin' Up! Spring catalog - 5/8" Flower Trim, #126869... there are 2 yards of these gorgeous little flowers in each package. AND HERE'S THE MOST EXCITING NEWS... it is only $6.95 for the whole pack!! whoohoooo!
I needed to dye a lot of these little beauties for a project we are making at our Luv 2 Stamp Group meeting on Saturday, so I tried this method and it worked great!
STEP BY STEP: 1. I rummaged through the drawer with all the extra plastic containers and lids that don't match
2. filled the containers about 1/3 full with water
3. added approx 10 to 12 drops of Stampin' Up! Reinker
(shown at left:
top = Calypso Coral
bottom = Pool Party)
4. Cut Flower Trim into about 12" sections and put them in the containers... stirred with a plastic spoon left over from Yogurtland and let sit about 10 minutes
5. I took the wet flowers out and let them dry on paper towels
When dry, I used Stampin' Up! Stampin' Write markers to add some color to the tips of the flowers... ohhhhhhh so pretty!
once I knew this method was going to work ok... I went a little crazy :)
OPTIONAL METHODS for Dyeing the flowers:
1. sponge ink onto flowers
2. "smoosh" flower directly onto the ink pad
3. mix reinker and water in Stampin' Spritzer and spray flowers
4. color with markers only
and of course... spritz with Smooch Spritz or Shimmer Paint in a Stampin' Spritzer... to add a little Glitz and Glam!
OK>>.. I'm ready for our Luv 2 Stamp Group Meeting on Saturday... can't wait to see all my gals!
