I was making a card for a swap and I had to use the new hostess set called Kind and Caring Thoughts... I got the vision of the stems coming out of a pot... so... I needed a pot...
Here is the finished card:
I used the new Dusty Durango cardstock for the pot and the matching Dusty Durango polkadot ribbon. I also used the Dusty Durango MARKER (Whooohoooo - In Color Markers!) and an old olive marker to ink the stamp. The greeting is also from that hostess set, stamped in Soft Suede, and is punched out with the new "Modern Label" punch. The stems are stamped on Sahara Sand and mounted on Soft Suede.
OK>> Now.. how to make the pot:
turn so that the 4" direction goes "side to side":
align paper as shown below in your cutter, then cut:
cut:
Flip paper over, align as shown and cut other side:
Now you have this shape:
Scallop the top edge if desired:
Fold scalloped flap down and you have a cute pot!
The pot has a neat speckled/stippled finish from the brayering.. makes it look like terra cotta!
After I made all the swaps, I made one stamped on Whisper White and I really like it on white too!

This is lovely! What a great use of the new colors! I'm new to the brayering thing, still don't quite get the hang of it, I always get harsh lines when I try to do more than one pass on card stock. Any tips you can offer? Thanks!

Lovely concept and thanks for sharing the tutorial as well as the smashing idea Patty. Although I think I would have made the pot just a bit smaller. It's possible the pictures are distorting a bit so I'll have to give this a try now that I have the stamp set in my hands.
Color combo is absolutely fabulous!

This is adorable! I made the pocket card with the flower pot idea earlier, but I love putting the 2-D one on a card with flowers peeking out like this. And WOW, Dusty Durango makes a great clay pot! As usually your designs are FAB! Your stack of catalogs is pretty impressive as well. My stack looks like a Mini-Me stack!!!

I've made a flower pot card before, but always struggled with the "cut out and pasted on" flowers. This is a much better idea to just "stamp" the flowers!!
